MUSIC AND SPACE – A UNIQUE COMBINATION
Space and Sound Club was started by two life enthusiasts: musician and sound designer Carmelo Nesci and artist and spatial designer Alicja Nowicz. They have both run workshops in various places including Finland, Switzerland and Poland. Carmelo led sound based classes and Alicja art and spatial activities. They met in Amsterdam in 2013 and decided to join their ideas creating Space and Sound workshops where their experiences (music, sound, art and space) unite.
Alicja (born 1988) studied art and architecture in Great Britain and in Switzerland. She has a Master degree in Interior Architecture from Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam (Rietveld Academy). Alicja is running Amsterdam Space & Sound Club since 2014 and has worked at Amsterdam International Community School (AICS). Through her international studying and working experience she has learned a lot about creative education and various teaching methodologies. She tries to collect all the best learning experiences and pass them on to children and young people. She perceives herself as a facilitator of creative development rather than a "teacher".
In her work she uses a variety of media, she is open to experiments and is particularily involed in social projects.
